Ingredients
-
4 slices bacon, diced
-
1 small onion, finely chopped
-
2 cans (14.5 oz each) green beans, drained
-
1 can (14.5 oz) chicken broth
-
1 tablespoon brown sugar
-
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
-
Salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions
-
Cook the bacon in a large skillet or saucepan over medium heat until crispy. Remove bacon and set aside, leaving a bit of the drippings in the pan.
-
Sauté the onion in the bacon drippings until softened and translucent, about 3–4 minutes.
-
Add green beans, chicken broth, brown sugar, and garlic powder to the pan. Stir well to combine.
-
Bring to a simmer, then reduce heat and cook uncovered for 10–15 minutes, or until most of the liquid has reduced and the green beans are infused with flavor.
-
Season with salt and pepper to taste, then stir in the cooked bacon right before serving.
Notes
-
For extra richness, stir in a tablespoon of butter at the end.
-
Use fresh or frozen green beans if you prefer – just blanch them first.
-
Great side dish for BBQs, potlucks, or family dinners.
