Description

This hearty Stuffed Cabbage Roll Dish combines tender chopped cabbage with seasoned ground beef, rice, and a savory tomato sauce for a comforting family meal. Perfect for anyone searching for a classic stuffed cabbage recipe that’s simple yet satisfying.

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds ground beef

  • 3.5 pounds chopped cabbage

  • 29 ounces canned tomato sauce

  • 1 cup chopped onion

  • 1 cup uncooked white rice

  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • 28 ounces canned beef broth

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

  • In a large skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat, then drain any excess fat.

  • Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent.

  • Stir in the uncooked rice, salt, half of the tomato sauce, and half of the beef broth. Mix well.

  • In a large baking dish, layer half of the chopped cabbage.

  • Spread the beef and rice mixture over the cabbage.

  • Top with the remaining cabbage.

  • Pour the remaining tomato sauce and beef broth evenly over the top.

  • Cover tightly with foil and bake for 1.5 to 2 hours, or until the cabbage is tender and the rice is fully cooked.

  • Let sit for 10 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add a teaspoon of garlic powder or Italian seasoning to the meat mixture.

  • This dish can be made ahead and refrigerated for up to 2 days before baking.

  • Freezes well; just thaw before reheating.
