Ingredients
-
1 lb lean ground beef
-
2.5 cups onion, chopped
-
1/2 tsp garlic powder
-
1 cup uncooked long-grain white rice (or brown rice for a healthier twist)
-
2 1/2 cups beef broth (or chicken broth)
-
1 tsp Worcestershire sauce (optional, for added depth)
-
Salt and pepper, to taste
Optional Toppings:
-
Fresh parsley, chopped
-
Shredded cheese (cheddar or mozzarella)
-
Green onions, sliced
Instructions
-
Cook the Beef and Onions:
In a large skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef and chopped onions until beef is browned and no longer pink. Break apart the meat as it cooks.
Drain excess fat, leaving about 1 tablespoon in the skillet for flavor. -
Add Rice and Seasoning:
Stir in garlic powder, rice, broth, Worcestershire sauce, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Bring to a boil. -
Simmer:
Once boiling, reduce heat to low. Cover and simmer for 18–20 minutes (25–30 mins for brown rice), or until rice is tender and liquid is absorbed. -
Serve:
Fluff with a fork and top with parsley, cheese, or green onions as desired. Serve hot!
Notes
-
Add diced bell peppers, peas, or corn for more veggies.
-
For a spicy kick, mix in red pepper flakes or hot sauce.
