Description

This Old Fashioned Apple Crisp is the ultimate cozy dessert—sweet, spiced baked apples topped with a golden, buttery crunch. Easy to make with pantry staples, it’s a classic treat perfect for autumn, holidays, or any time you’re craving warm, homemade comfort.

Ingredients

  • 5-6 cups peeled and sliced apples

  • 1 cup flour

  • 3/4 cup sugar

  • 1 teaspoon baking powder

  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon

  • 3/4 teaspoon salt

  • 1 egg, unbeaten

  • 1/3 cup melted butter

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and spray a 9×9-inch baking dish with nonstick spray.

  • Spread sliced apples evenly in the prepared baking dish.

  • In a bowl, mix flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, salt, and egg until crumbly.

  • Sprinkle mixture evenly over the apples, then drizzle melted butter on top.

  • Bake for 30–40 minutes, until the topping is golden and apples are tender.

  • Serve warm, optionally with vanilla ice cream.

Notes

  • Use tart apples like Granny Smith for a balanced sweet-tart flavor.

  • Add chopped nuts or oats to the topping for extra texture.

  • Great with whipped cream or caramel sauce as well.
