For the Meat Sauce:
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 jar (24 oz) marinara sauce
- 1 can (15 oz) crushed tomatoes
- 1 tbsp Italian seasoning
- Salt and pepper, to taste
For the Creamy Cheese Layer:
- 1 cup ricotta cheese
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1 package (8 oz) cream cheese, softened
For Assembly:
- 1 package (25 oz) frozen cheese ravioli
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- Fresh parsley, chopped (optional)
Instructions
Prepare the Meat Sauce:
- In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef and chopped onion until the beef is browned and the onion is soft. Drain excess fat.
- Add the minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Stir in the marinara sauce, crushed tomatoes, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 5-10 minutes, then remove from heat.
2. Make the Creamy Cheese Layer:
- In a bowl, mix ricotta cheese, sour cream, and cream cheese until smooth.
3. Assemble the Casserole:
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Spread 1/3 of the meat sauce on the bottom of the dish.
- Add half of the frozen ravioli in a single layer.
- Spread half of the creamy cheese mixture over the ravioli.
- Sprinkle 1 cup of mozzarella cheese over the cheese layer.
- Repeat the layers: meat sauce, remaining ravioli, remaining cheese mixture, and another cup of mozzarella cheese.
- Top with the remaining meat sauce and sprinkle Parmesan cheese on top.
4. Bake & Serve:
- Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes.
- Remove foil and bake for 10-15 more minutes until bubbly and golden.
- Let rest for 5 minutes, then garnish with fresh parsley and serve hot.

- For a spicy kick, add crushed red pepper flakes to the sauce.
- Substitute ground beef with Italian sausage for extra flavor.
- Can be made ahead: Assemble and refrigerate overnight, then bake when ready.
