This savory Cornbread Dressing is a southern classic made with crumbled cornbread, aromatic celery, onions, and sage. It’s a must-have side dish for Thanksgiving, Christmas, or any holiday feast. #cornbreaddressing #holidayrecipes #southernrecipes

Ingredients

  • 1 (16-ounce) package dry cornbread mix

  • 2 tablespoons butter

  • 1/2 cup chopped celery

  • 1 small onion, chopped

  • 2 eggs, beaten

  • 2 cups chicken stock

  • 2 tablespoons dried sage

  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Prepare the Cornbread: Bake cornbread per package instructions. Let it cool, then crumble into large chunks.

  • Preheat Oven: Set oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.

  • Cook Vegetables: In a skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Sauté celery and onion for 5–7 minutes, until soft.

  • Mix Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine crumbled cornbread, sautéed vegetables, beaten eggs, chicken stock, and sage. Season with salt and pepper. Mix thoroughly.

  • Bake: Transfer mixture to the prepared baking dish. Bake for 30 minutes, or until top is golden and set.

Notes

  • You can make the cornbread a day ahead for easier crumbling.

  • Add cooked sausage or diced turkey for extra flavor and protein.

  • Substitute vegetable broth for a vegetarian version.
