Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

  • 1 pound beef stew meat

  • 1 teaspoon onion powder

  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

  • Salt and pepper, to taste

  • 1 can (10.5 ounces) French onion soup

  • 3 cups beef broth

  • 12 ounces egg noodles

  • 1/2 cup sour cream

  • 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese, grated

  • 1 cup French fried onions

Instructions

  • Heat the Oil:
In a large pot, heat olive oil over medium-high heat.

  • Sear the Beef:
Add stew meat, season with onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
Cook for 3–5 minutes until browned on all sides.

  • Simmer with Soup and Broth:
Add French onion soup and beef broth. Bring to a simmer, reduce heat, and cook for 10 minutes.

  • Cook the Noodles:
Stir in egg noodles. Simmer for another 10 minutes, stirring occasionally until noodles are tender.

  • Add Dairy:
Remove from heat. Stir in sour cream and Parmesan cheese until creamy and well blended.

  • Serve:
Top with crispy French fried onions just before serving for a crunchy finish.

Notes

  • Substitute ground beef for a faster variation.

  • Add mushrooms or caramelized onions for extra depth of flavor.

  • Best enjoyed fresh, but leftovers reheat well.
