  • 1 cup whole milk

  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil

  • 2 large eggs

  • 2 tsp vanilla extract

  • 1 cup boiling water

For the Chocolate Ganache:

  • 1 cup heavy cream

  • 8 oz semi-sweet chocolate, chopped

  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter

For the Chocolate Frosting:

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened

  • 3 1/2 cups powdered sugar

  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

  • 1/2 cup heavy cream

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round pans.

  2. Sift flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt into a large bowl.

  3. Add milk, oil, eggs, and vanilla. Beat on medium speed for 2 minutes.

  4. Slowly stir in boiling water (batter will be thin).

  5. Divide evenly into pans and bake 30–35 minutes.

  6. Cool in pans 10 minutes, then transfer to wire racks.

Make the Ganache:

  1. Beat softened butter until creamy.

  2. Add powdered sugar and cocoa, mix well.

  3. Add cream and vanilla, beat until fluffy.

Assemble the Cake:

  1. Place one cake layer on a plate. Spread ganache over it.

  2. Add the second layer, frost top and sides with chocolate frosting.

  3. Optional: drizzle extra ganache on top or garnish with chocolate curls.
