Ingredients
-
8 oz (225g) linguine or spaghetti
-
1 lb (450g) raw shrimp, peeled and deveined
-
1 tablespoon olive oil
-
1 1/2 tablespoons butter, divided
-
1 clove garlic, minced
-
1/2 cup (120ml) heavy cream (double cream)
-
1/2 cup (40g) grated Parmesan cheese
-
Salt and pepper, to taste
-
Optional: Old Bay seasoning or smoked paprika
Instructions
-
Cook the pasta in salted boiling water according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
-
In a large skillet over medium heat, heat olive oil and ½ tablespoon butter.
-
Add shrimp in a single layer, season with salt, pepper, and optional spices. Cook 1–2 minutes per side until pink and opaque. Remove shrimp and set aside.
-
In the same pan, melt the remaining butter and sauté garlic for 30 seconds until fragrant.
-
Pour in the heavy cream and bring to a simmer. Reduce heat and stir in Parmesan cheese until melted and smooth.
-
Add cooked pasta and shrimp back into the skillet, tossing to coat evenly in the sauce.
-
Adjust seasoning with additional salt, pepper, or seasoning if needed.
-
Serve warm, garnished with extra Parmesan or fresh parsley if desired.
Notes
-
Use fresh or frozen (thawed) shrimp for best results.
-
Add spinach or sun-dried tomatoes for a vegetable boost.
-
For a lighter version, substitute half-and-half or whole milk, though sauce will be less creamy.
