Ingredients

For the Base:

  • 1/2 cup (113g) unsalted butter, softened

  • 1/2 cup (100g) granulated sugar

  • 1/4 cup (55g) brown sugar, packed

  • 1 large egg

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • 1 1/2 cups (190g) all-purpose flour

For the Cinnamon Swirl:

  • 1/3 cup (70g) brown sugar, packed

  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon

  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted

For the Glaze:

  • 3/4 cup (90g) powdered sugar

  • 1-2 tablespoons milk or cream

  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract


Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper.

  • Make the base: In a mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract.

  • Gradually add the flour and mix until a soft dough forms. Press the dough evenly into the prepared pan.

  • Make the swirl: In a small bowl, mix the brown sugar and cinnamon. Drizzle the melted butter over the dough in the pan, then sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture on top. Use a knife or toothpick to swirl it gently into the dough.

  • Bake for 22–25 minutes, or until the edges are golden and the center is set. Cool completely.

  • Prepare the glaze: Whisk powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth. Drizzle over cooled bars.

  • Cut into squares and enjoy!
