Description

These chewy chocolate chip cookies are soft in the center with just the right amount of crisp on the edges. Made with rich brown sugar and loaded with melty chocolate chips, this classic cookie recipe is a guaranteed crowd-pleaser for all ages.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter, softened

  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed

  • 1/2 cup sugar

  • 2 eggs

  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour

  • 1 tsp baking soda

  • 2 cups chocolate chips

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.

  • In a large bowl, cream together the butter, brown sugar, and white sugar until light and fluffy.

  • Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.

  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour and baking soda.

  • Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just combined.

  • Fold in the chocolate chips.

  • Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.

  • Bake for 10–12 minutes, or until the edges are golden but the centers remain soft.

  • Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • For extra chewiness, slightly underbake and let cookies finish setting on the sheet.

  • Use a cookie scoop for evenly sized cookies.

  • Chill dough for 30 minutes if baking in warm conditions.
