Description

A spicy and flavorful twist on a comfort food favorite, this Cajun Chicken Sloppy Joe combines ground chicken, bold Cajun seasoning, and savory tomato sauce, all served on toasted buns. Perfect for weeknight dinners and quick, satisfying meals.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground chicken

  • 1 tablespoon Cajun seasoning

  • 1 cup tomato sauce

  • 1/2 cup diced bell pepper (any color)

  • 1/2 cup diced onion

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

  • 1 tablespoon hot sauce (optional)

  • Salt and pepper, to taste

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

  • 4 hamburger buns, toasted

  • Optional toppings: sliced pickles, shredded cheese, green onions

Instructions

  • Cook the Chicken: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add ground chicken and cook, breaking it apart, until browned.

  • Add Vegetables: Stir in diced bell pepper, onion, and garlic. Sauté for 3–4 minutes until softened.

  • Season and Simmer: Add Cajun seasoning, tomato sauce, Worcestershire sauce, and optional hot sauce. Season with salt and pepper. Simmer for 8–10 minutes until the sauce thickens.

  • Assemble: Spoon the Cajun chicken mixture onto toasted hamburger buns.

  • Top and Serve: Add pickles, shredded cheese, or green onions if desired. Serve warm.

Notes

  • For extra heat, increase the hot sauce or add diced jalapeños.

  • This dish pairs well with sweet potato fries or coleslaw.

  • Use lettuce wraps instead of buns for a low-carb option.
